Since half of the team was working on a big announcement for AirlineSim last week, we wanted to let our PrUn players know that the AirlineSim Technology Demonstrator was unveiled and you can watch the explanation video here!

I had to take care of some personal things this week and took the majority of the afternoons off, so there was not as much development time as usual.
Our secret project is on hold at the moment, as I am waiting for Martin to finish some backend related tasks. We just talked about the project on our weekly meeting, and it looks like that we can reveal our plans before Christmas ;)
I spent most of my time this week working on the backend side of the new maps. Two devlogs ago I talked about how I added a filter to show all local market locations on the map. Implementing the same mechanism for commodity exchanges I quickly noticed that the path I chose was suboptimal and created more problems that it solved. I looked into options and noticed that the code backing the commodity exchanges is actually one of the oldest we have in the game. They existed pretty much from the get-go. In order to make it easier, I switched to shipyards, a rather new feature that has a more stringent implementation and follows the code styles and best practices we established over the years. After some hacking I had a prototype that worked better than the local market one and I decided to stick with it in order to finish the shipyard implementation. Then I refactored the commodity exchange code until it would work with the new prototype and removed much of what I did two weeks ago to replace it with the new implementation. It feels weird to undo your own recent work, but I am pretty sure we'll profit from the streamlining in the long run.
Working with the old code left me nostalgic at one point. After all, we have been working on Prosperous Universe for more than six years now! So much has happened since then!

Most of my time last week was spent on the ASTD announcement since it was my job to edit the video and make it look presentable. I am pretty happy with how it turned out and glad to have practiced my newly acquired video editing skills. I was also in charge of contacting the press for the event, so that definitley kept me very busy last week.
On the subject of PrUn, get ready for another influencer video that should be out sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed for this week. Of course I was also working again on the mysterious project that we are hopefully revealing very soon. We are also getting closer to finally making and shipping out our physical perks for First Access support tiers. I am really excited to see how all of these turn out and getting them finally into your hands!
As always: we'd love to hear what you think: join us on Discord or the forums!
Happy trading!
