Michi talks about a new motion component to assign fuel contractors.
Michi (molp)
In the last devlog, I mentioned that I started working on the gateway fuel mechanism and how we want it to work similarly to the weekly upkeep system I worked on over the course of the last few weeks. I already got pretty far, but the development is entirely on the service side right now, so I don't have any screenshots to share yet.
It really is very similar to the upkeep mechanism: the local government can use a new motion component type that allows to select a company as a fuel contractor. The government can set a starting period and the number of periods the contract should run. Payment works just like with the upkeep contracts: a fixed amount of money is paid each period.
We decided to use upkeep phases as time references, since they’re already established with the upkeep and having another schedule going that is out of sync with the weekly upkeep doesn't feel right.
The motion will also have the option to select a service level agreement. In the case of the fuel contract, the service level will be calculated as the quotient of successful jumps and total jumps. A jump might fail due to missing funds, missing upkeep materials or missing fuel. The only relevant reason for fuel contract service level agreement is the missing fuel though.
Please note that we will adjust the market makers for EDC
and IDC
again this week, most likely on Tuesday morning. The EDC
market maker will be adjusted to buy at 9 600 and the IDC
one at 13 200. I wrote a little tool that will allow us to manually adjust the price bands of the respective brokers, so that everyone can trade at the new prices. We'll adjust the price bands shortly after the release. You can find the release notes in the forums!
As always, we'd love to hear what you think: join us on Discord or the forums!
Happy trading!
