Fabian goes into detail about tweaking the Manufacturer profession for new players.
Following the ongoing feedback that the manufacturer starting profile is the most difficult to grasp for most new players, I took another look at the profession last week. Our current plans are to focus it fully in the BMP route initially. This would mean that instead of building a hydrogen collector (which narrows your choice of viable starting planets quite a bit) and an incinerator early, you would get the materials for 2 BMPs and a signifcant boost in starting capital. The implication of the latter being that you'll be able to travel between your base and a nearby CX quite frequently to buy input materials for your BMP recipes. It's something you were often already doing as a manufacturer, but focusing on it as the actual core of the profession to begin with should make things much clearer for new players.
Last week was a continuation of working on the pricing pages, contacting influencers, and collaborating on the tutorial remakes. Everything is going smoothly and I hope to have both a new influencer video out soon and to start production on the tutorial remakes. It's been a slow summer with many of the influencers I've contacted, but we all know people like to go on vacation this time of year and throw in video game conventions and that slows down the whole communication process. Thanks to all those that keep sending me links to their favorite YouTubers or Twitch streamers, that really does help a lot!
