Michi shows off an update on the map redesign and Fabian is on vacation!
Finally, I have something visual to show. Granted, it is not much and obviously work in progress, but still :)
Here's the rundown of what you can see in the video below.
I added temporary map controls to the top of the universe map. Right now there is only one control in the "Filters" section. It allows a resource to selected and highlights the corresponding resource concentrations on the map. It is possible to select up to five different resources. The results are added up and represented by a single line per system. We want to add more filters like population, traffic, faction info, etc.
The goal of this filtered view is to generate a heat map-like visualization using the selected filters. I admit, it requires a lot of imagination at the moment, but once the (debugged) lines are replaced with a more visually pleasing representation, it will make more sense.
To see more details about the displayed data, resource concentrations are shown after all the planet properties, not systems. I want to add info on every planet that is shown when hovering over a star in the overlay.
It was another week with influencers and video production research. We have a new video out from Sepulcher Geist, and there was a lot of feedback today in Discord. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts about it, both positive and negative. It is important for us to have a wide range of videos for different audiences that may preceive the game differently from you or the majority. While I did appreciate his creativity, I know that you guys want to see videos with a more in-depth look at the game. I will work on that for the future and try to find some YouTubers that will stick arond and play the game afterwards. Thanks again for all the comments!
