Preparations for the gateway release continued this week.

This week was a mixed bag of testing, bug-fixing, release preparation and other tasks.
As the release of the infrastructure and gateway feature comes closer, I am more and more busy with preparation work for the release. For example, I added two new articles to the handbook, to give you a better idea of what is coming. The first article is about infrastructure in general: how to construct infrastructure with motions and construction contracts, how to upkeep it etc. The second article is about the gateways themselves: how the linking, refueling and upgrading works, how the flight model changes and so on. This is only the first draft so far. If you have any questions or think that something should be added, please let me know. Since I spent a lot of time working on the gateways, I find it difficult to look at them from the perspective of someone who has no idea what they are about.
Speaking of upkeep: we made a change to the gateway's weekly upkeep materials. Someone mentioned this on Discord, and it makes total sense: Why not use some of the new resources or materials for the gateway upkeep? If we are not doing this, the demand for the new resources will be pretty limited. Adding a recurring demand will not only add a little activity to the new sectors but also give the resource extraction investments a chance to eventually pay off.
I also fixed a bug in the flight controls that prevented colony ships from starting their journey. Yes, that means that there are colony ships and they are not only flying to the new sectors, but some have already arrived. The first base I heard of is on Eremos - Rhenos Pater (BN-908b). Are there more?
If you're following Martin's devlogs over at AirlineSim, you might have noticed that he mentioned me this week: He is working on wireframes for a UI redesign for AirlineSim. I tried to help as much as I could, but sometimes Martin just needs a rubber duck ;)
The testing and preparations for the release will continue in the coming week.
As always, we'd love to hear what you think: join us on Discord or the forums!
Happy trading!
